WVMS Introduces All-New “Historic 100” National Late Model Event!

(Middlebourne, WV) – With all that is going on in today’s world a flashback to the past feels like a revolutionary breath of fresh air. That “flashback” is exactly what West Virginia Motor Speedway plans to create by introducing the all-new National Dirt Late Model “Historic 100”.

West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV which recently announced its return to racing for the first time since 2013 will see top national stars return to their roots on Friday and Saturday June 4th and 5th for the inaugural running of the “Historic 100” paying a combined weekend purse over $125,000 dollars with a potential winners share of $40,000+!

The WVMS revival is led by Cody Watson whose passion for the sport drives much deeper than just todays racing programs. Watson shares a large love and appreciation for the sports incredible past. Thus, leading to the unveiling of the “Historic 100” which he hopes will be the start of an annual one of a kind weekend. One that WVMS hopes can rise among the racing businesses most prestigious crown jewels.

West Virginia Motor Speedway which first saw action in 1985 will open its gates to the greats of stock car racing June 4th and 5th as they honor and highlight Late Model racings historic past. The events activities will include rewarding drivers heftily for participating with throwback paint schemes including a $5,000 bonus to the winner if they’re adorning retro form. Additionally, a massive gathering of former race cars, legends autograph sessions and a showcase of aged memorabilia.

Watson remains excited to move dirt racing into the future at West Virginia Motor Speedway and nationally while also taking the weekend to reflect on the historic moments that created our legacies. The inaugural purse for the “Historic 100” will fund the countries wealthiest winners share for a true old school style “unsanctioned event”. On Friday June 4th Late Model teams will compete 40 laps for $10,000 to win as the weekend builds up to Saturdays 60 lap $25,000 to win main event that pays $30,000 to win if the winning driver is adorning a former iconic or honoring paint scheme.

The list goes on of great racers & fans both former and current that have a story to tell. New history will be made as we grow this event and historic racing lore will be remembered” stated Watson. “This is my thank you to the guys nationally and locally that have turned wrenches and helped shape our sport over the last 20, 30, 40, 50 years” added Watson.

“I mean you can’t help but think Boggs, Moyer, Bloomquist, etc.. Charlie Swartz, Donnie Moran, Steve Shaver… and the list goes on… all have been a huge part of our sport and WVMS. I can’t wait until June 4th and 5th to just enjoy the nostalgia while showing fans all we have planned to make it a weekend they’ll never forget” concluded Watson.
