WVMS Continues Improvements, Acquires Additional Parking & Camping!

(Middlebourne, WV) Fresh off a successful season opener at West Virginia Motor Speedway, officials went quickly back to work on the speedway and its customer experience. The WVMS Promotions, LLC group walked the property, note pad in hand, to ensure that they could gather information as it walked through the gates.

When the evening concluded, an overwhelming crowd was left in awe as Jonathan Davenport bested eighteen Late Model entries for the grand prize. The packed house had plenty of room left for spectators as fans sprawled out across the beautiful hillside and backstretch bleachers. However, a wonderful scene of five thousand plus fans turned out to greet the World’s Fastest Dirt Track back to action. The majority leaving the facility satisfied and extremely excited for the future of West Virginia Motor Speedway. That future, began Monday, April 26th.

Immediately, WVMS, went back to work on speedway improvements and logistics issues. All of which present relatively easy fixes that will enhance the fan experience even more. Watson and company first went to work on the speedway surface, which included rental of a rock hound and hours of grading the surface. An effort to make the 5/8’s mile one of the best red clay ovals in the country.

The team has continued, even against mother natures best efforts to spoil progress of late. Improvements which are slated before or around the tracks next event on May 22nd include the addition of six new speakers and wireless signal amps for the backstretch PA system. Work is underway on greatly increasing food & beverage accommodations on the backstretch as well.

Parking and venue signage will be bolstered to direct fans throughout the property. New policies, organizations and property have been acquired or adopted to alleviate any issues with parking in the future. The biggest of which is the increase of 25+ leased acres on the Northeast side of the facility prior to the tracks pit entrance. This will support traffic from 21 on Speedway Road and flow around the tracks perimeter. With the increase, we’ve added 50+ handicap parking spots as well as designated VIP/Staff parking areas.

In addition, area athletic boosters will be on site as parking attendants for the events. Our attendants will see to more efficient parking on the speedways ‘general west lot’. Signage will guide guests as attendants will keep access roads clear and parking more organized for quicker entry and exit onto speedway grounds. We’re doing our part to give our fans a better experience. Fans are asked to respect our attendants at all times and do not park in fire lanes, exits, roadways or in a manner that will block any other guest from leaving in the event of emergency. All road ways are to remain open to at least two lanes of traffic for better flow, staff traffic and for emergency personnel.

Furthermore, we’ve increased our overflow parking and camping with the addition of fifteen plus acres on the South side of the property just below the general west lot as well. With warmer and more dry weather through the summer months, parking will also increase. We kindly ask that no vehicles park outside of speedway labeled property so that we do not block main roadways or utilize property and/or driveways that are not under the control of WVMS Promotions, LLC. With increasing our access to nearly 120 acres of land, we don’t foresee any additional parking issues and appreciate your patience on opening night.

In an effort to enhance the ticketing / logistics of the speedway we’re installing all new point-of-sale ticketing systems at each gate. The state of the art systems will allow for quicker entry at race time and further build on our advance ticketing opportunities at the speedway. With the purchase of advance tickets fans will now be able to enter the event at any gate instead of one central location to decrease movement around the facility. Lastly, fans will be able to purchase general admission or pit tickets at all gates (except the pit gate) to also relieve the hassle of unnecessary movement around the facility. We feel strongly that the following changes will be much more accommodating to our guests but do ask for patience as we put these new machines and procedures in place by our next event, Sat. May 22nd.

A big thank you once more to everyone who has supported us throughout the process of rebuilding the legendary West Virginia Motor Speedway and we appreciate your genuine feedback. We look forward to building an incredible venue for our community to be proud of for many years to come. Our next event is Saturday May 22nd featuring the FASTonDIRT 410 Sprint Cars battling for $10,000 to win. As well, UMP Modifieds will race for $2,000 to win. Gates open at 3pm, Hotlaps are at 6:30pm. Tickets are available in advance or at the gate, $25 GA or $40 for the pits. Kids 10 & Under are FREE to GA and 3 & Under are FREE to pits.
