MINERAL WELLS, WV — In 2026, West Virginia Motor Speedway will turn the page and write one of the most meaningful chapters in its history. Once a facility many believed might never return, the track along I-77 has undergone a transformation that blends renewal with respect for its past. A new short-track configuration, revitalized infrastructure, and an ambitious schedule have positioned West Virginia Motor Speedway for a season defined by momentum, purpose, and pride.

The 2026 calendar opens with a brand-new spring weekend that sets the tone for the months ahead, followed by one of the most cherished traditions in regional dirt racing, the Mark Balzano Memorial, held annually on the first Sunday in May. Later in the spring, the Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series will make its first-ever appearance at the speedway with the Mountaineer Nationals, a race created to honor the Mountain State and its racing heritage.

As summer arrives, the spotlight turns national with the return of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the 10th running of RaceFest. The event marks a decade of the event at West Virginia Motor Speedway and serves as a pivotal midpoint in a season filled with high-profile racing.

August brings a moment of reflection as the speedway honors West Virginia’s coal mining roots and remembers those lost in the Upper Big Branch mining tragedy. The weekend stands as a reminder that racing in West Virginia has always been about more than competition, it’s about community.

Labor Day Weekend delivers one of the most anticipated moments of the year, as the Hillbilly 100 returns to West Virginia Motor Speedway. The iconic event reunites fans, teams, and traditions that have helped define dirt racing in the region for generations. The season reaches its highly anticipated finale in October with the Dirt Track World Championship, where a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion will once again be crowned in Mineral Wells, placing West Virginia Motor Speedway on the world stage.
