West Virginia Motor Speedway Releases 2022 Season Schedule!

(Mineral Wells, WV) – West Virginia Motor Speedway is excited to announce its highly anticipated 2022 schedule of events! Following a successful re-opening season at the speedway it will turn to 2022 while showcasing seven racing events, the rescheduled Renegade Rebellion Music Festival and the debut of a new food & auto fair at the track this fall.

West Virginia Motor Speedway officially kicks off its “sophomore season” on Sunday April 24th with its 37th ‘Opener’ dating back to the tracks inception in 1985. The blockbuster spring event will pay $10,000 to win for Super Late Model teams with the area Sport Mod division on the card.

On Saturday May 14th, Aaron Fry’s “Fast on Dirt” 410 Sprint Cars invade for the first of two events on the 2022 slate. The popular 410 Sprints will once again circle WVMS with barbarous speed as they seek a $5,000 to win “Mountaineer Nationals” payday. Sprints will be joined along side area UMP Modifieds and Steel Block Late Models who will be vying for a provisional spot in the Historic 100 paying $50,000 to win in June.

The famous hillside is the place to be on June 3rd and 4th as the 2nd Annual “Historic 100” weekend returns to ‘The Speedplant’. This time, we’re bringing friends of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series variety. The major announcement made last June will showcase the nation’s premier series at the 5/8 oval for the first time since 2013. The elite teams of the nation’s premier dirt late model tour will compete for a combined weekend purse of over $200,000. On Friday, June 3rd, drivers will compete in a 30 lap A-Main for a shot at $15,000 with the weekend culminating in a 50-lap, $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday, June 4th. Local SCDRA & Sport Mod teams will also be on the card running preliminary qualifying and heats on Friday with their respective A-Main on Saturday.  For more info on the massive Historic 100 event visit: https://www.lucasdirt.com/press/2021/article/98123.

On Saturday July 2nd West Virginia Motor Speedway will welcome the wingless sprints of the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS). The non-wing special will headline a ‘Family Fun Night’ at WVMS with a discount ticket price and holiday fireworks display on tap. The American Crate All-Star Series will make their long awaited debut at the track in 2022 and be joined by the UMP Modifieds battling for $2,500 to win as part of the ‘Mega 100’ weekend in the region.

The Late Model world returns for possibly the final time of the 2022 season on Saturday August 6th in honor of the late Mark Balzano. The fan favorite invitational will feature a $10,000 to win main event for Super Late Models. The tribute event will also feature Sport Mods as well as the full fender Street Stocks for their first visit to the ‘Speedplant’ since 2013. One of the most highly contested events of 2021 was by none other than the popular grassroots Hotmod division who will return for a follow up performance on August 6th.

WVMS hosts its largest 410 Sprint show of the year on Saturday August 27th as well as the 2022 season finale with the “World Race of Champions”. The Speedplant’s biggest sprint race will pay the 2022 winner $10,000 to win while boasting a generous payback through the field. Joining the card will be the Steel Block Late Model Series who last invaded this past April as they battle for a guaranteed Hillbilly 50 starting spot plus $1,500 to win and the highly entertaining SCDRA Northeast Compact series competing for $2,000 to win.

On Saturday July 9th, WVMS will once again attempt to play host to the Renegade Rebellion Music Festival featuring a full day of national artists. The rescheduled event from last years Covid canceled show will feature familiar names as well as a few new artists to the lineup. More information and tickets will be available soon.
