(Mineral Wells, WV) — West Virginia Motor Speedway officials have announced that the open practice originally scheduled for Thursday, September 25th has been postponed to Thursday, October 2nd due to persistent wet weather conditions.

Over the past 48 hours, inches of rainfall have soaked the facility, with additional rain forecasted for tomorrow’s schedule practice day. Track officials determined that moving the practice back one week will allow the racing surface and grounds to dry and be properly prepared, ensuring a safe and productive night for teams looking to fine-tune their setups.

“We know how important this practice is for drivers and teams as they prepare for one of the most anticipated events of the year,” said WVMS officials. “Unfortunately, Mother Nature hasn’t been on our side this week. By pushing to October 2nd, we can provide a much better experience for everyone and give teams the quality track time they deserve before the ‘Short Track Debut’ on Saturday, October 11th.”

Fans are welcome to attend the rescheduled open practice on Thursday, October 2nd, with FREE hillside admission. Pit admission will remain $30 per person, and gates will open at 5:00 PM. Next weeks weather looks much improved as the speedway seeks to open its gates for the first time under the new configuration.
